Where the work is

The headcount on a job is what matters, not proposed dollars spent.

The largest active industrial construction projects in the country, ranked by how many craft workers are on site. Where an operator won’t publish a figure, the row says so rather than dropping off the map.

Sites with a guide written link to it. Those cover what it’s like to live and work there.

The map

Peak is projected on a job still ramping, already reached on one tapering off. A dashed outline means the operator publishes no figure.

What the map says

Rotation

The battery boom is over as travel work

Hyundai–SK opened in July 2026. Panasonic De Soto is in mass production. The EV plants that pulled crews across the Southeast for three years are finished jobs now. A recruiter still selling battery work as the growth story is selling last cycle.

Concentration

Louisiana is the most contested craft market in the country

Hyperion at more than 7,500 peak, Plaquemines, CP2, and a five billion dollar Hyundai steel plant — one state, overlapping. That means calls, and it means lodging scarcity that eats a per diem alive.

Durability

Phased fabs beat single spikes

TSMC Arizona and TI Sherman build fab after fab on one site. Micron’s Clay campus runs four over decades and is already ahead of schedule. If you’re choosing where to establish, a rolling program is worth more than a bigger number that ends in eighteen months.

Warning

Announced dollars are not work

Intel’s Ohio fab was the biggest chip job in the country and is now pushed to 2030 or 2031, with slow progress reported as recently as this month. Samsung’s Taylor plant was cut from forty-four billion to seventeen. Anyone who relocated on the announcement paid for it.

Gap

Nobody publishes construction headcount

The best existing megaproject tracker lists “jobs created” — permanent operating jobs, not craft. For a traveling worker that number is close to useless. How many hands are on site, and for how long, is not aggregated anywhere.

Blind spot

Pharma is unwatched

Eli Lilly is spending twenty-seven billion of a fifty billion program across Alabama, Texas and Virginia. Cleanroom work is process piping, high-purity mechanical and controls — well paid, and outside the sectors this trade talks about.

Method and confidence

Reported — a named figure from the owner, the contractor, a regulatory filing or credible local reporting, linked in the row.

Estimated — no published craft count. Inferred from scale, scope and comparable jobs.

Unverified — a number from a secondary source with no primary behind it. A lead, not a fact.

Not published — the operator doesn’t release a craft count and isn’t going to. These rows sort to the top, not the bottom.
